Watch the trailer above to get a glimpse into my online course FOUNDATIONS OF ANTICLASTIC RAISING
This 8-week course is for people who want to get started or learn more about Anticlastic Raising & Forming.
We’ll work together via high-quality online learning using methods I’ve developed over recent years, to really open up the technique for you. You’ll quickly learn how to put Anticlastic Raising & Forming into practice, using a minimum of tools, several of which we’ll make as we go along.
By the end of this 8-week course, as long as you follow the lessons and do the exercises, you’ll be confidently raising and forming anticlastic items of metal to develop your own way of using this fabulous technique, furthering your own designs.
Course runs 20th April to 14th June, 2026
What’s included:
Bonus Material:
Once you’re comfortable with the first principles, and you’ve raised and formed some anticlastic test pieces, you can watch my bonus video lessons demonstrating ways to figure out the size and shape of the piece of sheet metal you’ll need to create your particular design. I’ll show you how to work out the starting blank, how to refine the template you need to work on to transform flat sheet metal to 3-Dimensional form.
Course runs from 20th April to 14th June, 2026
HOW IT WORKS:
Week 1: Monday 20th April 2026, 18.00 BST (1pm EDT USA)
Group Zoom meeting (1 hr)
Introduction:
I’ll show you how we’ll work together during the course, and how to access the video demos. We’ll watch the first video lessons together, and I’ll answer any questions arising. It’s as close as we can get to a live workshop demo lesson, but better, because you can see exactly what’s going on up close via the screen!
You can attend live or catch the recording.
Week 2: No Zoom meeting
Your chance to use the course materials and practice alongside the tutorial videos. You can submit questions and share progress on the course dashboard anytime, and I'll respond.
Week 3: Monday 4th May, 2026, 18.00 BST (1pm EDT USA)
We’ll go through any issues arising from you having put the first lessons into practice. Then we’ll go through the next set of video demos together. There’ll be plenty of time for me to answer all your questions. You’ll be invited to show ‘work in progress’ to the group. This is optional, but I’d encourage you to take the opportunity as it’s helpful. Think friendly and supportive, constructive group crit, not a scary one!
You can attend live or catch the recording.
Week 4: No Zoom meeting
Your chance to use the course materials to practice alongside or catch up, as needed. You can submit questions and share progress on the course dashboard anytime, and I'll respond.
Week 5: Monday 18th May, 2026, 18.00 BST (1pm EDT USA)

Your final chance to ask questions live within the group about issues arising, about where to take your practice from here or about your next steps.
You can attend live or catch the recording.

Another week of full support via the dashboard so that you can put everything you’ve learned about Anticlastic Raising & Forming into practice, and consolidate your new skills.
FAQs
What do I need?
Copper sheet or gilding metal sheet (preferably 0.7mm thick but 0.5 - 0.9 will work)
A vice
A torch to anneal metal
One hammer of a recommended shape/form
I will advise and demo how to make the other tools you need from basic materials such as offcuts of wood. I will provide more details as soon as you buy the course.
Will it take a lot of time? What’s the commitment?
The zoom meetings will be 1 hour each (4 total). You can catch up later if you can’t join live.
You can pre-submit questions, or ask live in the moment. The dashboard is open 24/7 for 8 weeks, and I will respond to your questions there.
The rest is up to you.
How big is the group?
The group size is limited so that everyone gets plenty of support. If the course is full, there will be a waiting list for the next time it runs.
Who is this for?
Anticlastic Raising & Forming is aimed at people who have some experience of silversmithing, metalsmithing or jewellery.
It’s not for beginners. It’s not about making finished pieces, it’s about learning the technique. You can then use your new Anticlastic Raising & Forming skills creatively within your own practice, and have some fun with it!
What if I can't do it now? Will it happen again?
Yes, at some point, but the next round is not scheduled, and I don't yet know when it will be due to other work commitments.
